Isabel Lucas

Isabel Lucas

This is a seriously stupid film. The plot has no redeeming features other than it sets up insane action sequences involving giant transforming robots. That’s why I liked the first film and that’s why I like this one too. It is just 2 hours of absurd but high quality special effects with hot a chick and annoying kid. This film has some more of the goofy humour that detracted from the first film but it seems generally more in place this time. It fits better in the film because this one takes itself a little less seriously. Sam’s parents in particular are brilliant as is the cranky old Jetfire. Wheelie is plain idiotic as are the twins but you can’t have everything. The films main problem is that there are just too many transformers in it and few get much screentime some of the Decepticons don’t even get a name drop. You can’t help but think that the film would be better off with more Transformer and less Shia LeBeouf. Other than that there is little else to say. It is a pretty stupid but entertaining popcorn flick.  I enjoyed it and that is all that counts.

As readers of my old website will know I have a peculiar obsession when watching Hollywood films. Australian soap actors/actresses. I can spot them a mile off. Transformers 2 gets the very lovely Australian actress Isabel Lucas who as well has having normal thumbs once played the slightly odd Tasha in ‘Home and Away’. She gets the dubious honour of being this topics lead picture. Sadly this ability of mine will desert me soon as I stopped watching Australian soaps a while back and soon Australian Soap stars I don’t know will start filtering through. Its a shame I know. :)

As loathed as I am to judge a film by its trailer it looks like Hollywood have turned this excellent novel into a chick flick. If they have then that is a huge shame.

Lee as Count Dooku

Lee as Count Dooku

Christopher Lee has been Knighted by the Queen during her Birthday Honours list. Lee who is one the world’s most proflic actors even at the grand old age of 87. He was unable to comment on his honour because he was busy filming. Lee has played some of the most famous bad guys in cinema history starting with what must be considered the best Dracula. More recently of course he was Count Dooku in the Star Wars prequels and Saruman the White in the Lord of the Rings films. He even managed to get himself cast as a Bond villian.

Without doubt the ultimate bad guy of cinema.
